My Approach to Helping
Just like we avoid the mechanic or doctor if we can, you've been working so hard to manage your worries and stresses all on your own. And now you're ready to rid yourself of some of that burden. Helping you find the best way forward, moving towards the life you want to live, is what I love about the work I do. I recognize that you are the expert on your own life. My job is just to help you make sense of what you already know.
We are all more than just the individual lives we live. We bring with us the stories of our families, our cultures, and our communities. In my work, I am especially interested in helping people find their place within their own stories of faithspirituality and culture. These stories might be the cause of pain or healing, hope or frustration. Or maybe all of the above. Therapy is an opportunity to find and claim our place in those stories in way that helps us feel whole and connected.
As we grow, we carry the past with us: how we were raised, the mistakes we made, the patterns that keep repeating in our lives. We can easily get stuck there, but therapy helps us untangle those issues and brings clarity to the future. The bedrock of my practice is ensuring that you feel supported, safe, and valued so that we can start to move forward.
By looking for a therapist, you have already taken an important step. Whether it's a little help navigating something specific or assistance figuring out a more long-standing issue, I will utilize all of my research, training, and experience to create a tailored, individual approach. Wherever you are starting, there is always a way forward. Let's go find it.
