My Approach to Helping
Healthy relationships bring out the best in us and inspire us to grow in positive ways. If you're considering therapy it's likely because you feel stuck in some part of your life. A new perspective can be the key to moving forward. For many, therapy is simply a place to talk through options and explore new solutions to problems that have become persistent or overwhelming. I provide a safe and supportive environment to question old patterns of thinking and behaving that keep you from moving forward with your goals. Together we'll explore new ways of thinking and behaving that lead to continued growth and positive change.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I've never been one for small talk. I prefer to connect with others on a deeper level. Being a therapist is an honor because generally people open up and share their true feelings during their first hour with me. I love giving others my full attention and helping them uncover new ways to look at old problems.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
Trust is everything in therapy. The relationship between a client and therapist is the key to progress. I encourage you to call several therapists and get a feel for their styles over the phone. Ask if they offer free initial sessions so that you can get a sense of how it feels to sit across from them and share your thoughts and feelings. There's a vulnerability in opening up to a stranger, and the right therapist for you will help this process feel safe.
