My Approach to Helping

Welcome. I hope you find what you're looking for here. I know you have a lot of options for choosing a therapist so thank you for considering me. If you decide to start therapy with me, I assure you that I will be a dedicated partner in your journey of self-growth. I feel a sense of purpose and meaning when I see the inspiring changes that happen in therapy. Even if you don't know what changes you want to make yet, that's what we will figure out together.
I've had a great deal of experience treating and healing the effects of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem, identity issues, trauma, grief, and I feel confident that our work together will help improve what you are struggling with. I have a passion for helping people develop new ways of seeing situations and patterns that make it difficult to live a fulfilling life. My approach at the start of therapy is to gain a full understanding of what you're going through and finding practical solutions. After these key issues are managed with better ways of coping, we can focus on the deeper causes that are affecting how you feel. Whenever you think you might be ready, give me a call for a free 15-minute consultation to make sure we're a good fit.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Therapy really is what you make it. Some people want simple solutions to stuck points, others are looking for a better understanding of themselves and how they work, and many simply want to be heard and have a safe place to reflect. In reality, regardless of why you initially started therapy, it ends up being all of these things at some point. I've always held the view that the point of therapy was to eventually end therapy; to be at a place where you take a wide look at where your life is, and be content and at peace with it. Of course, I encourage and help people make the changes that are going to lead to healthy patterns in their lives and I do this by asking insightful and meaningful questions. I don't shy away from asking the questions and making the observations that need to be made, but more importantly, I teach you to ask yourself those questions so that you can continue to improve your life even after therapy is done.
