My Approach to Helping
My name is Felipe Amaya. I was born and raised in New Jersey from a family that immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia, South America. I was educated in Boston, but have spent the majority of my adult life in California. I am bilingual in English/Spanish. In 2001, I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach with a specialization in working with Older Adults and Families. I have many years of working with clients with chronic illnesses, especially those who have kidney failure and are on long-term dialysis treatments. Having lived and worked in Southern California, I am familiar with many of the language, cultural and generational issues that Latinos face while living in the United States. I come from a strength-based, family-based, and spiritually-based perspective. My goal with clients is for them to live their best lives and be the best version of themselves.
