My Approach to Helping
I believe art is a language everyone once spoke fluently. As children, we use art as a way to understand and navigate our surroundings and this serves as our personal connection to the world. In this way, art making is an innate ability that we all possess. As a Registered Art Therapist, I hope to help my clients reaffirm their sense of self, uncover and overcome obstacles through the creative arts process.
I believe art making provides a safe platform for my clients to address areas of improvement and aid in connecting to a deeper sense of self. Art making is an enriching and empowering experience that everyone is capable of accessing and benefitting from. In our therapy together, I hope that we can work to embolden your life through the creative language of artistic expression.
Through navigating my own hardships, I have found that my personal artwork speaks for me in a way that I am unable to express verbally. In this way, art has served as a catalyst for change in my own life. Similarly, I hope that the art process can provide a voice for my clients.
I have provided Art Therapy in a variety of settings such as, day treatment programs, alternative schools, and inpatient psychiatric hospital settings. My work has allowed me to connect with people of all ages and ability levels. Through my experience, I have found that I enjoy working with pre-teenaged youth, adolescents and emerging adults. I specialize in utilizing an art AS therapy approach which places focus on the art process as the healing component of our work together.
