My Role as a Therapist

My role as a Therapist is to give you the keys to unlocking your mind, body, and spirit. I am here to support you as we work through the identified and unidentified issues that may arise. My goal is to work with you, your spouse and/or your family on a holistic level to ensure that we are "curing" instead of "treating" the problem.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Throughout my life, I've experienced problems maintaining loving relationships with men. I was aware I had a fear of commitment but didn't fully understand why. I always found myself wanting male energy around me, but then quickly tiring of that same energy. I knew these men were not what I really wanted or needed, but their energy sufficed for the time.

This was true until I experienced my first Reiki treatment. As I relaxed on the table, images of myself as a little girl and my father surfaced. I began to cry and cry some more, and even as I tried to stop the tears, they continued to flow. My father passed away when I was six years old, and I had managed to deceive myself into thinking that I had dealt with the grief of his passing. But I soon realized I had simply swept these emotions under a rug - not wanting to confront them. I learned then that when we don't deal with our emotions, they merely fester and grow, as opposed to going away. For years, I had searched for my father's energy in men unsuccessfully.

Since that Reiki experience, I've learned how to not only effectively deal with my emotions and grief from the loss of my father but to also run towards the pain instead of running from it. I've also grown in my perspective toward men and relationships with people in general. I find it very fulfilling to help others do the same.
