My Approach to Helping

Are you overwhelmed with anxiety about your relationships (partners, family) or health? Let's restore trust in yourself and support you to regain peace and ease. It is possible to sort out challenges in your life, worries, emotional resentments, and repetitive patterns. Therapy can help you build a more fulfilling life. Oriented towards YOUR goals.

I am passionate about working with people who have been undersupported, who care for others and the world, to also care for themselves. People describe me as a gentle careful listener who can hold complexity, who will also challenge you to grow while honoring what is right for you.

As a mind-body psychotherapist, working with me is about more than talking and thinking in circles, to create real change in how you feel, your clarity of mind, and recognizing your inner wisdom. I am particularly skilled at working with people dealing overwhelm, running thoughts - with skills to sort through bodily feelings of craziness, blocked emotions, and unusual symptoms and signals of stress, so you can feel more grounded and whole.

My clients are dealing with issues such as
-Chronic pain, tension, related to anxiety, or health anxiety
-History of loss, abandonment, neglect or feeling undersupported by parents
-Difficult relationships
-Anxiety or depression
-Wanting to live more authentically
-Seeking to heal inherited family emotional patterns

I bring a background in somatic psychotherapy - a way of working with body and mind together to access your authentic feelings and restore physiological balance - that can involve mindfulness, paying attention body sensations, using touch movement or other nonverbal ways to access mind/body experience, with an understanding of how to relate that what's going on for you. I also bring knowledge of the mind/body connection from 18 years background as a Feldenkrais Somatic Education Practitioner working with people with chronic pain and trauma.

I want you to have a safe space, and to feel someone is with you in your journey. Going alone is hard. A safe therapy can be a "holding space" so you can find new ways of feeling secure with yourself. Much more is possible in life when you can build that trust and connection.

Relationships matter and I offer therapy for:
*INDIVIDUALS sorting out complex relationships past and present
*COUPLES dealing with withdrawal, lack of intimacy, and also conflict.
*ANXIETY AND HEALTH CHALLENGES

If you wonder if I can support you, I invite you to call and have a conversation about your challenges.

More Info About My Practice

As a second generation Chinese American, and recovering overachiever, I understand what it can feel like to not belong, feel marginalized or misunderstood. I also understand what it is like to work so hard towards overcoming challenges, to achieve in many ways, yet find yourself frustrated, lost or blindsided by emotional challenges. These lessons have taught me about the power of support and the intricacies of emotional well-being, often skills we are not taught growing up.

I believe in the power of relationship and support to heal. The way I work is non-judgemental, based on your values and beliefs, focused on what matters to you. I work with people from diverse backgrounds, and with people working with issues of identity. I am passionate in supporting you, and continually studying cutting edge approaches of how to support us in having a healing relationship.

I'd love to learn how I can support you. I invite you to call for a brief phone consult around your questions, concerns, and to explore how we might work together.

My Therapy Focus

I have completed an externship in Emotional Focused Therapy for Couples, an evidence-based approach for restoring bonds of intimacy and love. I also work with Dynamic Emotion-Focused Therapy(R), an approach for supporting you to reclaim those parts of yourself and your feelings that can support your wholeness and empowerment. I am also trained in PsychoPhysical Therapy(R) with the Bill Bowen, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy(R) and Touch for Trauma(R) therapy and the Somatic Regulation and Early Developmental Trauma advanced Somatic Experiencing therapy of Kathy Kain.
