My Approach to Helping

As humans our true nature is to move toward close and meaningful relationships in our lives. When obstacles prevent feelings of security and connection we often feel deep emotional pain, anxiety, and depression. This can be sensed in our mind and body. My focus is on helping individuals and families move through these obstacles with strength and compassion. In a warm and supportive environment, I use mindfulness-based therapy to invite you to explore the struggles you're confronting. Additional therapeutic modalities are often brought into treatment including cognitive behavioral therapy, insight oriented therapy, EMDR and other therapies, to help promote the healing process . At the heart of therapy is developing a feeling of safety and trust with the therapist so that you can explore difficult issues and old patterns, and be motivated to change. I look forward to bringing my 25 years of experience to guiding you on this journey.

More Info About My Practice

My passion is helping teens and families. If your teen is going through a difficult time or you're struggling in your relationship with your teen, I can help. The adolescent years can be fraught with tense emotions and strained family relationships. Increased pressure to perform and excel at the highest of standards often compromises teens' capacity to emotionally endure the pressure they feel. In contrast teens' natural drive is toward self-exploration and greater independence. Confusion and self-doubt often lead to insecurity, anxiety, and depression. Parents struggle to help their child navigate these years, which can result in painful distancing in the relationship. With an understanding of the complexities of the teen years, I work with teens and families to enhance resiliency and perspective, and to promote loving and supportive relationships.
