My Approach to Helping
You are a profoundly capable person, accustomed to accomplishing what you set out to do, but when it comes to certain major aspects of your life, things are just not going as planned. It seems easy for the people around you. You see other people enjoying their relationships, building a family, enjoying parenting, even enjoying life...why aren't those things happening for you? You start to wonder if something is wrong with you.
You want to love your life but there are so many complicated feelings, and you feel confused, alone, disappointed and anxious. Wondering...why can't I just enjoy the good parts of my life?
You've tried talking to friends or family, but they just don't seem to get it, and you shouldn’t have to figure out all of these complexities alone.
I help women discover themselves and develop agency to make the changes necessary to love the life they are living. We will work to understand even the feelings you didn't realize were in there, under all of the efforts to just be happy. I will help you to move towards acceptance of your full range of feelings, so that you are more free to make decisions in your best interests. My sessions typically include laughter when appropriate and even some sarcasm, but the end goal is for you to know yourself better than you even knew was possible.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The work I do strives to help you know yourself deeply so as to give you the opportunity to have real agency in creating the life you want to live. You will learn to start noticing your own patterns and behaviors, and will grow the capacity to engage in your life in a way that is conscious and intentional, rather than driven by some unknown, unhelpful (and often untrue) message you internalized years ago. My goal is to help you to develop a way of thinking and operating in the world that really takes into consideration all parts of you, all of your varied layers, and to teach you how to make the lasting changes necessary to live a conscious, engaged, fulfilled life. No band-aid, quick-fixes here...this is real, deep-dive, know-the-good-and-the-bad-and-everything-in-between-of-your-true-self kind of work.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
I meet with people at least once per week. In some circumstances, I meet with people twice or three times per week. We will talk about what frequency works best for your specific circumstances. I don't find it helpful to prospective patients to agree to work with them less frequently than once per week, at minimum, because the development of the therapeutic relationship is what is paramount to your success...and meeting just twice a month (or even less, if a cancellation occurs) just does not offer the opportunity to develop the depth of trust necessary for you to get to where you need to be through this work. As for how long we will work together, this is entirely dependent on whether the treatment continues to be progressive, in terms of your growth. If you are continuing to recognize growth, I will recommend that we continue working. If you have concerns about whether you are growing, I want to talk about how I might better help you and, if that means ending treatment or providing a referral elsewhere, I am happy to navigate those processes with you in the interest of your best fit.
