I am passionate about helping others to be as happy and effective in their lives as possible. I have a special interest in working with adults who are trying to manage stress and anxiety, and I use cognitive-behavioral strategies and mindfulness to help turn down the volume on worry. A strong and collaborative relationship is one of the most important aspects of great therapy, and it is important to me that I learn about your background, experiences, and how you engage with your world so that I can understand you better. This helps me to figure out what approach(es) might be most helpful for you.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

My style of therapy is non-intrusive, which means that you are never required to tell me things that you do not want to or are not ready to. With that in mind, it is generally helpful for me to have a sense of what is going on right now, when it started, and what seems to make it better or worse. These three questions give me a much better sense of what our goals for therapy might be and give us both a sense of direction in figuring out what steps to take next.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Finding a therapist can be a stressful process, and I encourage people to remember that they can 'shop around' and explore different options until one fits. Often, just speaking to someone by phone can give you a good sense of what it might be like to work with them. Since you are the expert on yourself, my advice is to trust your gut on this decision while remembering that you can always change your mind.
