My Approach to Helping

Are you feeling unfulfilled, stressed, or hopeless? Do you desire to find purpose, direction, or simply understand yourself better? Many of our feelings and thoughts are outside of our awareness and continue to influence our everyday choices. Left unattended, these feelings and thoughts can come out in unhealthy ways – often resulting in depression, anxiety, substance abuse, andor low self-esteem. As a result, we can feel powerless to change our current circumstances and end up self-sabotaging what we want out of life.

We are all influenced by our experiences in life and sometimes we need to revisit those places in order to move on. Through talk therapy, you can learn to utilize your strengths and integrate these experiences into your view of yourself thereby opening up new possibilities.

Therapy is not always easy – but it can be worth it. A powerful way of overcoming adversity in your life is to learn ways to control your thoughts and view things from a different perspective. Doing so will enable you to feel more confident in your ability to create a life more aligned with your goals and your "true self." My approach to therapy incorporates a holistic view of my clients and is rooted in empathy, sincerity, and non-judgment. Contact me today for a free 20-minute consultation.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Therapy is an alliance between the client and therapist to achieve agreed upon goals. Life continues to evolve and it is up to each of us to evolve with it. Therapy is a process that can result in greater self-awareness and the skills to choose how we interpret events in our lives. Discussing problematic areas of your life can initially cause some negative feelings but this is necessary to reach the other side. The majority of individuals who engage in therapy report a reduction in distressing feelings and improved functioning.
