Life can be hard. There are times where we can find ourselves overwhelmed with worry, not eating or sleeping quite right, and struggling through the day to day of our lives. You may find you are more irritable, arguing with friends and family. It may have started building over time or you may have experienced sudden loss or change that brought these symptoms on.

I can help you find peace. I am passionate about collaborating with my clients to help them find clarity and relief from their current issues. In therapy, I am a supportive and compassionate listening ear. More than that, I collaborate with you to provide new insights, new perspectives, and skills to deal with your current symptoms. This may include homework to implement in between sessions. Since our physical and mental health are so closely related, I address symptoms from a holistic approach addressing physical, mental and spiritual areas of your life. At times and only when appropriate, I use humor and sarcasm in the healing process of therapy.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Even though you are struggling and may be experiencing painful symptoms, you may still hesitate to reach out. You may find that you are unsure of the therapy process, not want friends and family to know you attend therapy, or even afraid to admit what you are going through. You many feel hesitant to share what you are going through with those you know, whether it is an internal struggle or a struggle with someone close to you. It may be difficult to share with others.

I believe that most people can get through their own "stuff" on their own. The role of therapy is to get you there so much faster and by healthier means than you might do by yourself. Therapy also offers an objective, third-party perspective. Therapy offers a confidential space to let it all out.

What Makes up a Problem?

Often when clients come in at the start of therapy, they identify symptoms that are bothering them. Lack of sleep, headaches, constant worrying, lack of appetite, stress eating, overly emotional, etc. While these symptoms can be helpful in identifying the core issues, they are really only on the surface of what is going on. Often you can address the symptoms, but what they indicate is a bigger issue - a faulty belief (such as "i'm not good enough" or "No one cares about me") or a struggle with your identity (such as believing something different than your parents or spouse).

I absolutely strive to address the symptoms you present in counseling, but I also know that coping with those issues is just a band-aid, a quick fix. I strive to work with my clients to identify the deeper issues and help them find a deep and lasting peace.
