My Approach to Helping

Asking for help is both difficult and an incredibly courageous act. If you have been having a hard time recently or are in emotional pain, you deserve to get help. I believe each of us learns to cope with pain differently. Some have learned do so through humor, isolation, or work, while others learned to do so with drugs, alcohol, or sex. Many of us also recreate old, unhelpful patterns we learned in childhood. I specialize in helping adults with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. My clients are wonderfully resilient, talented, and intelligent. They are motivated for change and find they can benefit from professional help.

I offer a safe, nonjudgmental environment to help you work through painful thoughts, feelings, and unhealthy patterns so that you can be free from the shackles of your past and choose how you want to live your most fulfilling life. Evidence-based treatments help you practice new coping skills, challenge old thinking, and explore new ways of experiencing.

If you are looking for a skilled and compassionate professional for individual therapy, give me a call so we can discuss your goals and how I can help you achieve them. You don't have to suffer with unnecessary pain. I invite you to click the link to my personal website for more information about my practice and me.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Research shows that the most consistent predictor of a positive outcome in therapy (meaning that you actually feel better) is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. It turns out that what will likely help you the most is not necessarily adherence to a particular treatment model, but rather how well you connect with your therapist on a human level. Find a therapist that you like and who feels genuine, who you feel comfortable enough with to discuss your painful experiences, and who is able to support you in the ways you need.
