My Approach to Helping
I utilize a person centered approach to helping that builds on the person's strengths and assets. I take a collaborative and solution focused approach to issues presented during our sessions. I believe that the person being served is well equipped and capable of formulating solutions with some amount of support and guidance along the way. There are exception periods in everyone's lives when problems that are brought to therapy didn't exist or were better managed. Identifying "what works" and "doesn't work" through careful exploration with the individual is the basis of my approach. It empowers individuals to search within themselves for feasible solutions while I provide supportive guidance and ongoing feedback during our therapy sessions. The person being served chooses the goals they would like to work on in addition to their corresponding action plan to reach and sustain each of their goals by applying those specific strategies and interventions that uniquely work for each individual served. Some of the therapeutic models that I borrow from, but are not limited to, include motivational interviewing and solution focused techniques with some elements of cognitive behavioral therapy as well. I sincerely enjoy the work that I dedicated my life to doing and I am truly committed to partnering with those served to achieve the desired outcomes of each and every adult, child, teen, group, or family that chooses to engage with me as their therapist.
