My Approach to Helping

My approach to therapy has been influenced by a diverse array of radical mental health practitioners, organizers, and activists. I highly value personal identity, intersectionality, and human relationships as fundamental to my therapeutic work, and aim for my practice to be a destigmatizing and collaborative space. Namely, I integrate a harm reduction and strengths-based approach to mental health which presumes that all people are doing their best to survive.

Beyond my formal training in play therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Structural Family Therapy, my practice is widely informed by disability justice movements, radical peer support communities, and transformative justicecommunity accountability models. I am also passionate about using techniques drawn from somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, and liberation health. In terms of mental health diagnoses, I am happy to center a traditional diagnostic framework as much or as little as you like, offering space for workshopping, critiquing, and rejecting diagnoses along the way. You are the expert on your own life and I will honor your needs throughout the therapeutic process.

More Info About My Practice

I believe that therapy gives us the opportunity to express ourselves to the fullest extent without fear of judgment or retaliation. My background in mental health and social justice grounds my practice in anti-oppressive frameworks. I particularly love working with people living with disabilityTBI, medical and complex trauma, neurodiversity, and sexuality and gender identity formation. I am also passionate about supporting folks through non-monogamous relationships, racial identity development and internalized misogyny.
I highly value identity and human relationships as fundamental to my therapeutic work, and aim for my practice to be a collaborative and anti-authoritarian space. I offer a destigmatizing and strengths-based approach to mental health which presumes that all people are doing their best to survive in an unjust world.
If any of this resonates, you are encouraged to contact me so we can discuss how I could best support you during this time. My goal as a therapist is to offer a safe interpersonal dynamic that harnesses your strengths and honors your boundaries, all while exchanging constructive feedback along the way.

Groups I Work With

I believe that therapy gives us the opportunity to express ourselves to the fullest extent without fear of judgment or retaliation. Every single therapeutic relationship is unique, and I feel that building this relationship requires a collaborative and non-hierarchial approach on the part of both therapist and client. While I envision therapy to provide a safe space for reflection and healing, I am well aware that many folks have had negative experiences in therapy, sometimes even contributing to re-traumatization.

My goal as a therapist is to offer an affirming space for you to explore difficult feelings by harnessing your strengths, and honoring your boundaries, all while providing and receiving constructive feedback along the way. In my opinion, no problem is too small to be addressed through a therapeutic relationship. I also believe that beginning therapy is never a bad idea — we can always pause if it doesn’t feel right to you.
