Hello, and welcome to my profile. I am happy that you've found me! You may be experiencing intense feelings that are overwhelming and overshadowing your everyday life. It may feel as if you cannot function as easily as in other times of your life, or as if your relationships or job are being affected negatively, or that it is hard for you (and your partner if you are looking for couples work) to move forward. I invite you to reflect with me on the issues with which you are struggling. Through my observation and careful listening, we can navigate patterns of thinking and behavior that may have been beneficial to you in the past but are no longer working. Together, we can use tools, thought, and relationship to understand more about the origin of your issues and find solutions to bring you closer to your goals and a greater sense of well-being.

I am also extensively trained in working with survivors of a traumatic loss. Using a model called Restorative Retelling, developed through Virginia Mason Hospital's Department of Separation and Loss, I can be with you and assist you in your trauma alongside your grief.

I encourage you to call me and set up an appointment so that we can begin to work toward your healing.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

I believe people deal with issues using words, symptoms and behaviors. Clients often sit with me and talk about what they are struggling with, and usually their words are combined with somatic symptoms and/or stories about how their struggles are manifesting behaviorally. Though we use tools, and cognitive behavioral techniques to calm the immediate pain, the underlying origin of the issue takes longer to surface and heal. I believe therapy is complete when the client no longer experiences (to such a staggering extent) the symptoms and behaviors that accompany the narrative of their discontent. The client and I often know together that the therapy is ready to end, and we talk about this and give closure to the work as it becomes apparent that the issue is much more manageable or has dissipated altogether.
