My Approach to Helping
I value all people as unique, talented individuals, so treatment will teach you individually-tailored skills backed by science that you can use to change your life. I am both compassionate and change-oriented, which creates a unique environment of comfort and support that facilitates your growth.
Specifically, I use cognitive-behavioral techniques including behavioral activation, exposure, cognitive restructuring, and mindfulness.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I am skilled at helping individuals with childhood trauma histories, adult trauma experiences, anxiety, depression, or sexual or gender identity issues. I have had specialized training in all of these areas and continue to pursue continuing education to enhance and improve my skills.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is designed to help you improve your life and reduce suffering. Although psychotherapy is typically thought of as only being for people with a diagnosable mental health condition, the skills learned in treatment can also help those of you who are already doing well. My job is to help you learn and implement new skills that you can use throughout your life, even after you complete treatment.
By getting to know you, your story, your strengths, and your struggles, I am able to provide you with new ways to approach situations - good or bad. As your psychotherapist, I am your coach and ally in achieving your goals.
