My Approach to Helping

Thank you for visiting to learn more about therapy options to support a healthier life. My goal as a counselor is to provide a safe, caring environment to assist you in working through challenging seasons of life and issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and trauma. I also offer support for navigating life transitions related to family, relationships, and careers. I have a focus on connection with nature and the human-animal bond, and welcome the chance to talk with you about the special animals in your life and other meaningful nature-related experiences. I hope that in our work together, you will feel supported and accompanied on your unique journey of healing and growth.

My separate coaching practice, Organizing Force, is named for the love energy and life force that resides within each of us. This work supports those going through major life transitions or seeking to live a new story. This can include navigating changes to work, relationships, living situations, physical spaces, and more. I also offer support for moving forward with creative goals and projects. These coaching and consulting services are one-time or periodic focused consultations rather than psychotherapy, and are available within and outside New Mexico. The goal is to work together to find ways to embrace the energy of renewal, to uncover new clarity, creativity, and wellbeing in life. I embrace a story-focused approach in this work as a framework for excavating the larger life story that can be lived. Working with dreams and corresponding waking life events can be part of this work.

More Info About My Practice

My approach to therapy focuses on relationship: providing a steady, supportive environment for processing life’s challenges and difficult experiences. I draw on various theories as needed, incorporating attachment theory, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based approaches including meditation, and other supportive methods. I welcome clients to bring up spiritual topics and meaning-of-life questions for exploration together. I take a strengths-based approach, working with clients to identify internal and external resources to help shape a new way forward.

My training in graduate school and beyond has focused on grief, trauma, relationships with animal companions, and connecting with nature in therapy. Before transitioning into the field of counseling, I worked in federal government and corporate positions for 15 years. I draw on this career and life experience to support my clients as they work through challenges and changes in their own lives.
