My Approach to Helping

You are capable of amazing things! Storms inevitably hit each of our lives. Sometimes we face a light drizzle that darkens our days, makes us dreary, and brings us down; other times we feel the force of a hurricane that makes landfall directly on our shores, leaving behind desolation and emptiness.

Whatever your case, no problem is bigger than your strength.

I am here to support you and help you discover that strength. Human connection and collaboration are powerful forces in the wake of life's challenges. You are not alone.

I will be the guide in our therapeutic relationship. Whether today is the day you commit to navigate the obstacles in your most important relationships, or today is the day you begin to swim against the current of grief and loss even as you fear it may sweep you away, or today is the day you face the mirror and struggle to re-claim your self-esteem, or today is the day you tell anxiety, "You control my life no longer!" Whatever the case, I will be with you, offering a guiding light through the darkness.

Using strengths-based, mindfulness, narrative, and collaborative methods, we will weather the storms of your life together on our way to a brighter day.

My Role as a Therapist

You are the expert on your life! My role is to act as a catalyst for growth.

Together we will explore your values and develop methods to make changes in your life that reflect those values. As your therapist, I work to see the world through your lens and understand your experience. In my office, you will always be met with kindness, respect, and unconditional positive regard.

It is an honor to travel with you on your journey, whether it be on a path of personal growth or one of healing. Let me be your guide to discovering your most amazing you.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

What will therapy be like?
What will I talk about?
Will the therapist judge me?

These questions plagued me before I picked up the phone to connect with my own therapist. Once I did, however, I wondered what I had waited for.

My therapist did not judge me; rather, he cared deeply about my experience of the world. He did not give me emotionally charged advice; rather, he set aside his agenda to focus on mine.

Even my best friends and closest family, despite noble intentions, could not ignore their own narratives as I worked through the challenges in my life. Despite (and because of) the close bonds I share with my loved ones, those with whom I have vested relationships often respond through a lens clouded by their perceptions and skewed by their own feelings.

As your therapist, I am invested in YOUR experience of the world. Our time is about YOU. Ask yourself: When was the last time I dedicated any serious time or energy to caring for myself? Why not invest in my own mental, emotional, and social well-being?

Self-care makes us better. Better mothers. Better husbands. Better friends. Better colleagues.

Is therapy always easy? I wish I could say it was. However, I have never left therapy regretting the effort. It is my goal to bring the same experience for you. Even when it's difficult, knowing you are not alone lends you strength as you build a healthier, happier you.
