I work collaboratively with clients and provide a safe, compassionate, client-centered setting for you to discuss your concerns, set and meet goals, and improve your quality of life. I tailor evidence-based therapies (for example, cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral activation) to meet your specific needs. I specialize in working with older adults and adults with medical illness and their family members, so I make sure that the therapy I deliver is sensitive to each individual's unique circumstances. Some of my clients only require a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term counseling.

More Info About My Practice

I am both a clinician and a researcher (at Weill Cornell Medicine), so I am dedicated to providing you with therapy that actually works! I utilize the best available evidence and tailor it to your particular needs and life circumstances to make sure that you aren't wasting any time or money on a service that isn't helping you meet your goals and improve your life.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have specialized in geropsychology (older adults) and a palliative care psychology (adults with serious illness). My specialization included additional coursework and special fellowships working with older populations and populations with serious illness. As such, I am particularly sensitive to and experienced with the issues that are unique to later life such as caregiving, bereavement, adjusting to new disabilities/illnesses, later-life depression, anxiety, and insomnia, memory issues, and retirement. I also have expertise in behavioral strategies to cope with pain.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Not every therapist is a perfect match for every client, so if you have tried therapy before and had a negative experience, my hope is that you will not give up hope!

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

When you select a therapist, I highly encourage you to not only make sure that your therapist has expertise in the issues that you want work on, but also that he or she seems like someone you would feel comfortable talking with. I offer free phone consultations to potential clients because I want to make sure that a client feels comfortable with me (at least preliminarily) and that I can actually help someone with their current concerns.
