My Approach to Helping
When stress triggers our deepest emotional wounds, therapy is an opportunity to find freedom from suffering by getting to know and accept all parts of who we are. Self-acceptance helps us feel safer to meet life's challenges with courage. With empathy and a non-judgmental attitude, I am here to guide and support you in this transformational work.
My approach is holistic, integrating work with the mind, body, and spirit. I use supportive and expressive techniques, including mindfulness, somatic work, expressive arts and sand tray therapy. Sessions are collaborative, and together we explore what specific approaches work best for your needs.
More Info About My Practice
Integrating art expression and somatic work into psychotherapy sessions can create faster and longer-lasting change than talk therapy alone. Working in this way, insights become grounded in present moment experience, leading to positive shifts in your life. Our bodies and our creative expressions have stories to tell us if we seek to listen and look. Through this experiential work we bring consciousness to the personal meanings and impacts of our energetic movements, sensations and impulses.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in working with siblings of people with special needs. I am passionate about supporting this underserved group to have a safe space to explore the ambivalent feelings that often come with this life experience.
Common challenges include: perfectionism, internalizing feelings, difficulty expressing anger, trouble recognizing or expressing one's own needs, guilt, resentment, and concerns about caring for their sibling over time.
