My Approach to Helping
If you are thinking about coming to therapy, chances are there is something going on in your life that is prompting you to do so. Perhaps it is a stressful job or relationship, or you are struggling with depression, low self-esteem, anxiety or a creative block. And, what may seem to be the problem on the surface could be related to something on a deeper level. Being able to understand what is happening on this deeper level, however, means making contact with it. As your therapist, we will work together to try and understand what this inner world is all about--all the thoughts, feelings and memories and the relationship they have to your current situation. Being able to understand these old, pushed-away feelings and memories will help you to effect positive change in your life and help not to repeat what has caused suffering in the past.
More Info About My Practice
We all have an unconscious, inner world that we externalize and recreate in our everyday relationships and experiences. We do this because this is what was internalized early on in life and is the way we learned to relate to the world. Some of the ways we learned to interact, however, no longer work in our present day lives and in fact may cause pain and suffering. My approach in treatment is to help you understand these early thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and the relationship they have to one another in order to bring about change and develop more satisfying relationships and life experiences. I also enjoy working with couples, doing Couples Therapy Pasadena.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Therapy is a place where you will hopefully be able to share your innermost thoughts and feelings with someone who is non-judgmental and who will provide a safe and secure environment to do so. In choosing a therapist, it is important to find someone who is experienced, professional and able to listen to and focus on you throughout your session.
