My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed clinical social worker with experience in treating children, adolescents, and adults. I have a warm, caring approach to assessment and treatment alike, with one core goal - to produce substantial and enduring changes in behaviors, thoughts, and moods and to teach useful strategies for managing day-to-day living while reducing distress to the greatest degree possible.
Our thinking is the result of our own perception, judgment, experience, and bias.
I use a psychosocial approach to treatment. This approach emphasizes the significance of both psychological and social problems in interaction with health and other needs all of which are important when making an assessment and offering help. Therapy is guided by a tailored treatment plan for each individual's unique needs.
Mental illness is not something to be ashamed of. It is important to dispel the myths and learn/teach the truths concerning any/all forms, and all degrees, of mental illness, whether it's depression, ADHD, anxiety or schizophrenia. Did you know that Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Ernest Hemingway had all been diagnosed with mental illness during the course of their lifetimes? It shows strength and bravery to make that call to get the help you need. I look forward to working with you for a healthier future.
