My Approach to Helping
I have always been interested in what it takes to move through challenges gracefully. When we are able to use difficulties to grow we feel good about ourselves. That being said, we all have times when we feel overwhelmed and can’t see a way out. When this happens, taking the time to slow things down in a safe and confidential environment where two minds can be brought to bear on one person’s problems can be helpful.
My approach to therapy is to help you develop a greater capacity to make sense of your own actions and those of others you interact with. I am always curious about what might be going on just underneath the surface and will listen carefully and empathically as you share your story with me. I will offer direct honest feedback when I feel it might be helpful. Developing a greater sense of self-awareness as well as being able to see what might be driving others behaviors is important in creating healthy relationships, managing difficult emotions, and being able to work productively. As we work in this way, new possibilities arise and symptoms usually decrease.
