My Approach to Helping
I believe that people are resourceful and capable of changing their lives to reflect values, dreams, and intentions that they hold most dear. I will work collaboratively with you (and your loved ones) to move from where you are to where you want to be. Do you want to feel closer to your partner? Do you want to experience increased patience and harmony in your relationship with your teen? Do you want to feel more present and empowered in your life? Does your child need a positive and creative space to work through difficult problems? I help to create a welcoming environment where you will examine solutions to problems. We all experience challenges, but our challenges don't define us. We are so much more. I am here to highlight and celebrate your strengths, and to explore ways that your strengths can support you to create the life that you want. My approach is collaborative. I recognize that while I have expertise in my work, you are the expert in your own life. I have great respect for what you know about yourself: what works and what doesn't work; times when you have risen above problems and times when you have felt stuck and overwhelmed. I will share my ideas and, if desired, will share what others have found helpful. I know that each person, couple, and family is different, and I know that often our collective experiences can reveal wisdom that can be helpful for each person. I work from a strengths-based approach, celebrating the richness of your various cultural identities. My aim is to help you to create fuller pictures of your life and to access community supports to reinforce the positive changes that you make.
