My Approach to Helping
Feeling sad more than usual? Relate to symptoms of depression you may have researched online? Have difficulty thinking positively about yourself with limited success? Attempted to lose weight, gained it back, lost again, only to gain it back and potentially more again? Feel stuck with an addiction that you just can\'t seem to kick, even if most other parts of life seem okay? There is hope. You can live a successful and fulfilling life. You can learn to cope with emotions. It is possible to increase your self esteem. And it is absolutely possible to lose the weight for good. How you might ask? Becoming well and balanced.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in a holistic persepective. I desire to help clients be well mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and relationally. I also utilize techniques from approaches such as CBT, SFT, DBT and Client-Centered Therapy. Empathy, listening, trust, and encouragement are qualities I bring to the therapeutic relationship.
I am both a social worker and a former certified personal trainer. I have 5 years experience working in an inpatient mental health facility and private practice. With the combination of my own personal experiences (including 200 lb weight loss without surgery) and education I have received, I believe I can offer guidance to help you reach your goals.
I am also a certified Weight Management Therapist through Wales Counseling Center, PLLC.
