My Approach to Helping
Whether you recently started feeling overwhelmed and out of sorts or you’ve been struggling for a long time- therapy CAN help. The stresses of daily life can be made more difficult by anxiety, depression, trouble adjusting to changes in your life, and unresolved traumatic experiences. This can lead to engaging in unhealthy coping mechanisms, disruptive behaviors, unhelpful thought patterns, and isolating which in turn further impacts our ability to help ourselves. Keeping stress to yourself and hoping things will get better on their own doesn't help in the long run. I specialize in helping you gain self-awareness, problem-solving strategies, coping tools, effective communication, and accessing your natural resources and strengths that will help in finding balance, empowerment, and healing.
I value authenticity, warmth, and collaboration in therapy because I believe in you and that you already possess skills and expertise that can help guide change in your life. I appreciate that you hold unique experiences that have brought you to this point and I am here to explore the past and present so that you can step confidently into your future with self-awareness and tools that will help you face life’s inevitable challenges. Our beliefs, emotions, and actions all have a purpose and by taking the time to understand this purpose we can recognize the root of our challenges and learn to respond rather than react in our daily lives. Using strength-based and solution centered approaches- guided by a background in cognitive, behavioral, and collaborative modalities- I will work side by side with you in reaching your therapeutic goals and overcoming the challenges caused by anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, difficulty adjusting to life changes, trauma, and disruptive behaviors.
I provide a non-judgemental, compassionate, and safe space for you to explore what is troubling you, cultivate the strengths you already possess, learn new strategies that will help you towards improving your day-to-day life, and support you in the follow-through of using the tools you have learned. My specialties include addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem issues. I am bilingual (Spanish) and certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
