My Approach to Helping
My therapeutic approach to helping individuals and couples is based on my sincere passion to improve well-being, whether it involves self-exploration, understanding, self-acceptance, or gaining knowledge about how problems began and grew and how they can be resolved. When we as individuals or couples are suffering or struggling, our life functioning is usually impaired in at least one area. Working with the proper professional will be effective. When couples and individuals enter a therapeutic relationship in a confidential comfort zone, thoughts, concerns, and feelings are easily disclosed, and psychotherapy becomes active and alive.
More Info About My Practice
I have obtained Advanced Level Training from the Gottman Institute, which specializes in couples counseling, including married couples, gay and lesbian couples, and single couples. I also have a unique specialty in working with mixed-orientation marriages, where one spouse is straight and the other is gay or lesbian. In this situation, both partners are usually experiencing significant distress, and both usually need assistance in resolving their dilemma. Once the gay spouse decides to disclose, issues of trust, shame, children, depression and emotional pain typically emerge. My goal is to help each spouse understand the perspective of the other and help them determine whether they want to remain in the marriage or depart. I work Monday through Friday AND ON SATURDAY!
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I have dedicated my entire profession to creating harmony, which will generate peace, serenity, and rapport. I strive at being authentic, genuine, and collaborative in approaching the specific needs of each case. I am a diversely-affirmative therapist and work with sexual orientation issues, gender identity issues, along with other diverse situations. My goal is to effectively engage every single individual or couple in order to create harmony in their lives.
My Role as a Therapist
My role as a therapist is to establish a therapeutic alliance for safe and open communication. I am here to listen with compassion and empathy in a very non-judgmental approach to every single person who walks through my door. The more I know about their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that are troubling them, the more I know how to lead the journey toward resolution.
