My Approach to Helping
I am a Master’s Level, Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Substance Abuse and Drug Abuse counselor. I'm dedicated to helping clients reach their goals and live the life they envision.
I have over 30 years of experience helping adult and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, anger management, addictions, grief, PTSD, Women’s Issues and more.
My experience entails years of hands – on – supervision, training, and management of programs which focused on mental health issues and addiction. I have provided treatment for a diverse population of clients which includes diversity in culture, age, race, ethnicity. I have also worked with helping families understand and cope throughout the treatment process.
I have worked with clients who have experienced mood swings to emotional instability. I work to understand the thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns clients may exhibit due to various mental health disorders. Inclusive in working with this population identification of triggers or episodes and help in developing effective strategies to manage the disorder. I feel Stress Management is crucial to behavioral changes.
In therapy, I use CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, ACT, and various other methods to encourage clients to set and achieve goals. In every situation, I believe it is important to provide psychoeducation, encouragement, and support in keeping clients on their path moving forward toward their success.
I earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Community Counseling from Governors State University. In my free time, I enjoys reading, music, sewing, cooking, movies, and spending time with my family.
