My Approach to Helping
I have over 18 years of experience supporting individuals, parents, and families in Arizona's public behavioral health system, and 2 years' experience counseling adolescents, adults and couples experiencing difficulties in navigating life's challenges. My years of personal experience in parenting, supporting families navigating mental health services, and training hundreds of parents and professionals in mental health systems across the country in parent and family support services, led to my desire to work one on one as a counselor with individuals wanting to create change in their lives. My husband and I have learned that parenting children who live with exceptional circumstances can be difficult, but moving through this journey with the right support and coping skills can ultimately become a profoundly rich and meaningful experience. I will support you on your journey whether you are a parent, caregiver, sibling, family member, or anyone wanting to create positive change in your life. I build upon your individual strengths and resilience while providing a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere for you to begin the process of healing, growing and living your best life.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and a Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from University of Phoenix. I am currently licensed by the State of Arizona as a Licensed Associate Counselor, LAC-17443, practicing under the supervision of Diana Canfield, LPC-15756.
In order to provide counseling services to clients across a variety of ages and needs, I have completed training and have experience in multiple evidence-based clinical approaches including (but not limited to) Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused and Gestalt Therapy. In order to serve individuals who have experienced trauma, I have also completed specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
