My Approach to Helping
I’m a licensed professional counselor with more than a decade of experience counseling teens, children, and adults. I graduated from Kean University, where I received both a bachelor of arts in criminal justice and a master of arts in counseling. I am now a doctoral student at Walden University. I’m certified in various special education topics, and have worked as a special education teacher. I have extensive experience supporting people on the autism spectrum.
I use a blend of techniques, and draw upon principles of solution-focused, cognitive behavioral (CBT), trauma-informed, mindfulness, and person-centered therapies. I believe the client should collaborate on their own recovery.
More Info About My Practice
I value creating safety and mutual respect. I empathize not just with what a client says, but with what is unsaid but felt. I a committed to understanding where my clients are coming from and understanding their values. I view these values as central to the therapeutic relationship, and as vital to healing and transformation.
Good psychotherapy isn’t just about discussing problems. It helps you find solutions for your challenges and accepting that which you cannot change. The essence of therapy is to strengthen you to weather life’s storms with calmness and confidence. Therapy helps you grow and evolve so you can change your interactions and achieve specific goals.
