My Approach to Helping
As a counselor and executive coach, I specialize in working with corporate executives, mid- to upper-level managers, professionals, and business owners struggling with their relationship, life, and career challenges. My client demographic and business model is somewhat unique from that of most therapists. I transitioned into counseling as a second career after 20 years as an executive in the business world.
Because I've walked in many of my clients' shoes as a former business professional, speak their language, and engage them in a solution-focused, collaborative approach to change, I often hear that I "get them" and how they appreciate my flexible and pragmatic model for success.
Plus, as an added benefit, we will meet online via a Skype-like video call program rather than in an office setting. The convenience of not having to travel to a counselor's office combined with my offering evening and weekend hours enables you to get the tailored professional help you need, when you need it.
As an example, if you travel for work we can conduct our session online in the evening from your hotel room. If you live outside the Denver Metro area in a small town, you may be happy (even relieved) that you're able to see a counselor who doesn't live in your same area. Single parents or couples with children are able to see me after putting kids to bed or on Saturday mornings without the need for a sitter. Busy business owners and executives love not having to leave the office or waste time in traffic to seek professional assistance.
More Info About My Practice
Knowing how challenging it can be for busy professionals to carve out time during the work week to seek help, I gladly offer evening and weekend hours to make our time together stress-free and convenient for you.
I choose not to accept insurance for a number of important reasons. Using insurance may cost you confidentiality, future employment, label you with a diagnosis, put your private health information at risk, and diminish our opportunity for real therapeutic work and results. That said, you're welcome to pay for counseling services from your HSA account.
I offer a brief "get to know you" complimentary phone or Skype chat to ensure a positive therapeutic fit. And if I'm not the right person to assist in achieving your goals, I'll likely know someone who may be.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
My own history motivates me to help other professionals break through barriers to happiness and success in their relationships, lives, and careers.
Years ago, I knew that I would eventually become someone who helped others solve their problems. I've always seen this as a calling. Even in high school, my friends dubbed me "JP" the junior psychologist, because I was the person from whom they sought help with their difficulties.
I have always been passionate about and effective at helping others. I will help you improve relationships and problem-solving and communication skills in either a coaching or counseling setting. Though I passionately and continually hone my methods, skills, and education, I also rely on my substantial life experience and wisdom, sharp intuition, and my unwavering commitment to my own and my clients' personal growth.
In our work together, we will identify and implement solutions to your personal and professional challenges. I aim to offer a comprehensive and highly individualized program that uses the latest complementary methods. This customized approach is tailored to meet your needs by focusing on the issues that matter to you. In so doing, I hope to enhance your happiness, quality of life, and sense of well-being.
