My Approach to Helping
Since we switched over to teletherapy in mid-March due to covid-19, the response from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive. Many clients actually say they prefer online counseling to in-person therapy. All 12 of our therapists offer secure, confidential and easy-to-use platforms such as Zoom, VSee, Doxy and WebEx. Ask us for a short demonstration. We plan on continuing to offer teletherapy in DC long after the pandemic is over.
At DC Talk Therapy, our therapists specialize in working with young adults (20s and 30s). We offer individual counseling, couples therapy, marriage counseling and group therapy. Barbara Donesky, LICSW, was recently voted as one of the three best marriage counselors in Washington, D.C.
Since we opened our practice in 2012, we've helped more than 1,000 people live happier and more fulfilling lives. Our therapists use a variety of therapeutic approaches but primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on modifying maladaptive or distorted thoughts about ourselves or the rest of the world as a way to change resulting feelings and behavior.
Our therapists believe that psychotherapy can be tremendously rewarding, even life-changing. We see therapy as very much a collaborative process, so we ask clients for feedback throughout the process. We want the client's experience to be as valuable as possible.
We know people lead busy lives so we offer early morning, evening and weekend appointments. Our therapists are available Monday through Friday 7 am-9 pm; Saturdays 9 am-5 pm; and Sundays 2 pm-5 pm.
Our office staff answers the phone live Monday through Friday 9 am-5 pm and they can often schedule you an appointment within 2-3 business days.
