My Approach to Helping
Having trouble navigating your 20s? Anxiety or depression have you feeling stuck? The therapists at DC Talk Therapy specialize in working with young adults (20s and 30s). We have helped hundreds of people live a happier and more satisfying life.
We have six therapists to choose from.
We primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in treating clients. CBT focuses on modifying maladaptive or distorted thoughts about ourselves or the rest of the world as a way to change resulting feelings and behavior.
We usually see clients for 20-30 sessions, although we sometimes work with clients for shorter or longer than that. We believe individual therapy -- as well as couples counseling, family therapy and group therapy -- can be tremendously rewarding, even life-changing. We see therapy as very much a collaborative process, so we ask clients for feedback throughout the process. We want the client's experience to be as valuable as possible.
More Info About My Practice
DC Talk Therapy is located in the Woodley Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C., across the street from the National Zoo. It is a five-minute walk from two Metro stations, Cleveland Park and Woodley Park (red line). Street parking is available.
We understand the work demands of our clients, so in addition to daytime hours we also offer early morning, evening and weekend hours. We open at 7 am and close at 8 pm, Monday through Friday, and we are open from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturdays.
We offer two 12-week anxiety groups a year, one in the spring (February-May) and one in the fall (September-December). One is for 20-somethings and the other is for 30-somethings. The groups are held in the evenings and are led by Barbara Donesky, LICSW. The groups, which have become very popular over the years, are a mix of support and skills building. To register, please call our office administrator, Leah Sugarman.
We will also be offering a one-day New Dads Workshop in mid to late April. Please see our website for more information.
