My Approach to Helping

I love working with young adults (20s and 30s) who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depression and major life transitions. I'm accepting new clients and doing all of my sessions via teletherapy (online therapy). New clients can be seen within 2-3 days.

At DC Talk Therapy, all 14 of our therapists specialize in working with young adults (20s and 30s) with anxiety, depression and relationship problems. We offer individual counseling, couples therapy, marriage counseling and group therapy.

We have several therapists who specialize in trauma, including Yvany Peery and Amy DeYoung, both of whom use EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). Ms. DeYoung and Ms. Peery have had great results with EMDR, lowering distressing symptoms of trauma in their patients. We also have an OCD specialist (Sophie Bauer) and a life coach (Robin Tucker). We have some of the best therapists in D.C. Barbara Donesky, LICSW, was recently voted as one of the three best marriage counselors in Washington, D.C.

Since we opened our practice in Washington, D.C., in 2012, we've helped more than 1,500 people live happier and more fulfilling lives. Our therapists use a variety of therapeutic approaches but primarily use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT focuses on modifying maladaptive or distorted thoughts about ourselves or the rest of the world as a way to change resulting feelings and behavior.

Our therapists believe that psychotherapy can be tremendously rewarding, even life-changing. We see therapy as very much a collaborative process, so we ask clients for feedback throughout the process. We want the client's experience to be as valuable as possible.

As of Feb. 2022, all of our D.C. therapists continue to offer secure, confidential and easy-to-use video platforms such as Zoom and Doxy. Even when we return to in-person sessions, our therapists will continue to offer online therapy in DC.

We know people in Washington, D.C., lead busy lives so we offer early morning, evening and weekend appointments. Our therapists are available Monday through Friday 7 am-9 pm and Saturdays 9 am-5 pm.

Our office staff answers the phone live Monday through Friday 9 am-5 pm and they can often schedule you an appointment within 2-3 business days.
