My best outcomes typically occur with people genuinely interested in creating lifelong transformation. Whether we focus on a chronic marital problem, a difficult child or adolescent, or deep-seated anxiety, depression, anger, an addiction, or recent life stressors, real therapeutic change takes emotional investment, time, and work. Nonetheless, it may the best work you will have accomplished in your lifetime!

I hope you need someone who is experienced, energetic, open, upfront, real, and warm and caring. My hope is to be as human as possible--comforting, easy to talk to, understanding, emotionally available, challenging and encouraging, and a bit witty at times.

Most people seek therapy because they find themselves recycling or reinforcing the same unhealthy life patterns day after day, wondering why they can't move past an issue or make a change. This recycling of unresolved issues and counter-productive behaviors frequently leads to depression, anxiety, anger, alcohol use, chronic couple issues, family conflicts, etc. Please call us for a free consultation.

If you're inquisitive, willing to work hard to learn and change, and teachable and motivated--it can be one of life's most powerful change experiences.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Looking for a therapist? What I tell others:
1) Most important is whether you connect or bond well with the therapist. You're looking for comfort, rapport and ease in conversation.
2) Therapy technique is less important than the therapeutic relationship.
3) Find a therapist who really loves what they do, someone who is excited about being in the same space with you and is there to add value to your life. Avoid "Stepford" therapists who agree with you on everything, don't challenge you, say ahum a lot, listen only, and provide limited feedback.
5) It rarely dawns on most people to actually interview a prospective therapist. A few brief conversations can give you a lot of information about who will be the best fit for you. Call before making that appointment.
6) Once in therapy, don't be afraid to set the tone and direction (to the extent you can). If you can't today, work towards doing so at a later time.
