My Approach to Helping

Welcome to my profile and thank you for reviewing my approach toward therapy. I commend you for taking this important step in searching for a skilled therapist who can be trusted to listen to you and to your needs. My goal is to help you move through whatever is holding you back from feeling fulfilled and feeling that life is truly worth getting up for each day.

My role is to be fully present for you and for what you bring to therapy to work through. This includes; giving you accurate caring reflections of your thoughts and feelings, identification and help with correcting thought distortions (ex. I made a mistake vs. I am a mistake) and creating and carry out a treatment plan to heal the underlying events including trauma and the symptoms of depression, anxiety, addiction and hopelessness.

Do you believe you can change patterns and change your life? Each individual is unique and every individual has the capacity to heal. It is remarkable what we are capable of when we finally decide that nothing less than a full on commitment makes sense. It is commitment and courage that makes all the difference.

Life is about growth and change. None of us feel good about being stuck in something uncomfortable or limited by old patterns.

Private pay. However if you have a preferred provider insurance plan I will sign the necessary reimbursement forms for your submission.

My Therapy Focus

I work with men and women of all ages. In working with men it has helped to have experienced being male growing up in this culture and to appreciate and benefit from my own therapy. Men tend to focus on the cognitive aspects of problem solving and can find being with feelings challenging. My work helps bring a balance between the head and the heart and encourages attention to feelings and greater balance.

Work with all my clients has been with transitions such as divorce, death and dying, job changes, widowhood as well as issues of identity, trauma and abuse. Mid life often brings a time of transition and a renewed drive to break through old dysfunctional patterns.

As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Certified therapist of ten plus years, I have learned and experienced that this is an advanced cutting edge treatment that has the potential to bring deep healing at a core level. Distressing material once worked through is generally resolved and does not return. To appreciate the power of this treatment method it helps to experience it directly.

Feel free to call and we can talk about the specifics of your needs. A phone inquiry can be quite simple. Please know that making a phone call does not obligate you to make an appointment.
