I understand therapy as a deeply transforming and healing experience that is co-created between both patient and therapist. Instead of focusing directly on symptoms, diagnoses, and "pathology," I view suffering as a natural response to life events whether they be past or present. To that end, my goal is to assist my patients in understanding where their pain comes from. With this understanding, true healing can begin. While symptoms should never be ignored, my approach takes the entire person intro consideration, creating a unique healing experience for a unique you!

More Info About My Practice

I am a board certified licensed clinical social worker specializing in adult psychotherapy. With over seven years experience in the mental health field, I have developed the skills, knowledge, and compassion necessary to assist people from all walks of life. While many therapists focus on working with one main group of individuals, I decided early on to not limit myself in the types of people I work with. Given my dedication to working with a diverse mix of individuals, I am able to find common ground and relate to the unique challenges my patients face.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

While I consider myself a generalist in terms of the populations and issues I work with, I have specific skills in working with depression, anxiety, LGBTQ concerns, grief, and trauma. Additionally, I have extensive training in depth psychology which allows me to assist my patients in understanding the core themes that promote their suffering. To this end, I am able to work with a board range of issues.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

Getting to know many different people from many walks of life is truly a blessing. I have the privilege of developing a unique relationship with my patients which is built on trust and mutual respect. For me, there is nothing more gratifying than watching a person grow, develop new insights, face their fears, develop new strategies, and work towards their goals. Being a psychotherapist is more than a profession - it is a calling. I take what I do very seriously and am grateful to each patient for allowing me to share in their journey towards healing and self discovery.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

There is no single principle that is more important than the alliance that is formed between patient and therapist. In fact, research has shown the therapist-patient alliance is the single most important factor in patient change. It is the foundation that all other principles are based. The alliance permits trust, honesty, and safety which allow the patient to express his or her true feelings. I take very specific steps to ensure the ongoing development of a strong patient-therapist alliance and take the necessary steps to resolve any conflict that may arise in the therapeutic experience.
