My Approach to Helping
Life has a way of throwing us curve balls when we least expect them, and as painful, unpredictable, and uncomfortable as our struggles can be, we do not have to meander through life\'s difficulties hopeless. We can triumph over our many challenges by doing the difficult work of personal growth. Each person has within themselves the strength, fortitude, and power to be a bettergreater version of themselves, we just need help. Despite the challenges of life, you do not have to silently suffer or navigate life\'s challenges alone.
I walk with my client\'s on their journey to self-discovery, self-actuation and healing.
I do not prescribe to any specific therapeutic orientation, as I feel the counseling experience should be guided by the client, and techniques be specific to individual goals and outcomes. I have experience in a variety of treatment modalities, and work with my clients to discover what best fits their needs.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
Life is made up of good experiences and bad ones. I am sure many people had bad dates in their past. I know I have!!!! But one thing it never made me do is stop dating, or looking to connect with people. Just like in any relationships, sometimes things do not work out. Some people just don't "fit" together. We cannot give up just because something has not worked out in the past. I encourage you to give therapy with me or someone else a try.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
This process is for you. No one can tell you what is wrong with you, or fix you. The expert on you is you. Therapy is simply a journey of self-discovery, where you develop the tools necessary for you to live your intended life free from worry or regret. Truthfully I am just here to accompany you on the journey.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
It is recommended at the beginning of therapy that sessions take place on a weekly basis. For some clients I am open to a bi-weekly schedule, but I rarely take clients who want to have drop-in services or cannot maintain a regular schedule.
What Makes up a Problem?
A "problem" is anything that prevents you from living life as you want to live it. They can be financial, social, system oriented (family), vocational, or personal. Problem solving involves creating AWARENESS, ACCEPTANCE, making an ASSESSMENT as to possible solutions, and taking ACTION to develop a plan.
