My Approach to Helping

Why struggle through life's challenges alone? Why not seek help today. I believe that each individual client has within themselves the power to change, live their ideal intended life, and maintain satisfying relationships. The counseling experience should provide an environment that is supportive, nonjudgemental, safe, and encouraging. I have been known to challenge my clients to confront their issues, and develop the inner fortitude to deal with life's many challenges. If you would like to schedule an appointment please use the contact form on our website. www.imaracounseling.comcontact

I have a passion for helping men find the emotional supportoutlet to deal with their historical traumas, anger, abuse and other concerns. I also specialize in helping other helpers and have been described as the therapist's therapist.

More Info About My Practice

As a group mental health practice, Imara Counseling Services seeks to create a warm, inviting and safe space for clients to explore the unique challenges they are going through. Let's be honest, COVID-19 has really disrupted everything we view as normal. And as practice we work tenaciously with clients to see the positive changes and growth they desire. Our clinicians see therapy as a partnership and an opportunity for clients to benefit from the skills they attain.

We work with adults, teenagers, and children (5+) who are suffering with a range of concerns including relationship trouble, mood disorders, such as depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. We also see couples in all stages of their relationships. If you need help, reach out for help today!

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

Life is made up of good experiences and bad ones. I am sure many people had bad dates in their past. I know I have!!!! But one thing it never made me do is stop dating, or looking to connect with people. Just like in any relationships, sometimes things do not work out. Some people just don't "fit" together. We cannot give up just because something has not worked out in the past. I encourage you to give therapy with me or someone else a try.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

This process is for you. No one can tell you what is wrong with you, or fix you. The expert on you is you. Therapy is simply a journey of self-discovery, where you develop the tools necessary for you to live your intended life free from worry or regret. Truthfully I am just here to accompany you on the journey.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

It is recommended at the beginning of therapy that sessions take place on a weekly basis. For some clients I am open to a bi-weekly schedule, but I rarely take clients who want to have drop-in services or cannot maintain a regular schedule.

What Makes up a Problem?

A "problem" is anything that prevents you from living life as you want to live it. They can be financial, social, system oriented (family), vocational, or personal. Problem solving involves creating AWARENESS, ACCEPTANCE, making an ASSESSMENT as to possible solutions, and taking ACTION to develop a plan.
