My Approach to Helping

My approach to therapy is collaborative and solution oriented, developed from nearly 30 years of helping children, adults and families identify concerns and find answers to a variety of life's struggles. I believe that being heard and understood often starts with listening well, and work to help clients of all ages and backgrounds discover their voice, worth and sense of hope. I believe lives are complicated and solutions often unique, stemming from the collaboration of therapist skill and knowledge and client values. I work with compassion, humor, kindness and great amounts of support and encouragement. I want my clients to feel valued and heard each time we meet. I believe a working and therapeutic relationship is born from trust, genuineness, validation and respect.

More Info About My Practice

I work with people of all ages, including couples, families and children. I have significant expertise with depression treatment, anxiety treatment, communication issues and behavioral/emotional difficulties in children and adolescents. I have extensive experience providing family therapy and have utilized hypnotherapy with adults to help manage stress, pain and performance related anxiety. I offer free 30 minute consultations, evening appointments and sliding fee scale.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

The opportunities to do a job I've loved for 30 years. To help others find greater peace and fulfillment. To share my experiences and lessons learned, and the many ways being a therapist has enriched my own life and directed me to become more compassionate, understanding and patient each day.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Relationship between client and therapist is often key. Many therapists are highly trained and skilled clinicians with great knowledge, but I find that change and growth occur most often within supportive relationships, where people feel heard, cared for and respected. I encourage clients to interview therapists. Make sure you or your child feels comfortable sharing thoughts, feelings and concerns with whoever you choose.
