My Approach to Helping
All of us need mental health support in varying ways-in order to better ourselves, better our lives. It can range from a word of encouragement to needing special mental health services. Wherever you are in your journey, I applaud you for taking the courage to reach out for mental health services.
For more than 13 years, I have been providing mental health services to people with severe and persistent mental health needs, such as severe depression, anxiety, panic attacks, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and substance addictions. I feel blessed and humbled that they gave me the opportunity to walk with them when they might feel most vulnerable in their lives. I have learned a great deal from my clients.
Therapy is a collaborative effort and it’s an opportunity for therapist and client to work together to achieve the client’s realistic goals. As a therapist, I see myself as a mirror through which clients see themselves clearer so that they can make positive changes. I am flexible in applying different therapies and techniques to meet clients’ unique needs. However, I often use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) as an underlying philosophy and principle of change. “Change your thoughts and you can change your world.“ is a famous quote that summarizes CBT philosophy.
Again, I commend you for your courage in reaching out for help. Whether you choose me as your therapist or not, I am wishing you the best as you continue your journey to become the best version of yourself.
