My Approach to Helping
Seeking help and advice to cope with bad relationships, life's traumas, negative thoughts and emotions is the first step and sometimes the most difficult one, for many of us. Therapy can provide the supportive environment and tools necessary to regaining a sense of balance and well being in life. As a mental health counselor, my goal is to help you on your journey to become the person you want to be. We will work together to find relief from your symptoms and ascertain the root causes of your problems. I firmly believe that Therapy should be a holistic experience and the knowledge and skill set you gain in it will serve you well long beyond our time together.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in treatment of LGBTQ adolescents and their families, ADHD in children and adolescents, and helping children and parents cope through a divorce. I have an extensive background in treating adults with anxiety, depression, trauma including sexual assault, marital and relationship issues. My approach is client-specific. With children, my experience has been that expressive arts and play help them to relax and open up. I use and rely strongly on cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based techniques in my practice. With fifteen years of experience, there is not much I have not seen or heard. I offer a safe space, free from judgment, where we can work on reaching your fullest potential.
I value my client's input and encourage an active feedback as to how the therapy is going.
