My Approach to Helping
Talking to a therapist can feel scary sometimes and telling your story to someone you don't know isn't alway easy. I believe in helping you feel connected, your perspectives valued, and your choices respected. Over my 14 years of practice I have learned that there is no right way to heal, nor right path to choose towards wellness. The journey and healing is guided by the person that holds the wound or concern. I believe YOU hold the key to what feels right for YOU as we walk the path towards wellness together.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I completed my Master's at Florida State University. I am licensed in both Florida and Tennessee. As a Puerto Rican woman, I am passionate about working with and supporting minority populations. I have worked with Adults and families of a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities in a variety of settings. I have experience in crisis work in mental health hospitals, provided therapy in offices settings and in homes to pregnant and new mothers, worked in corporate behavioral health settings guiding teams, as well provided therapy virtuallyover the phone.
My areas of passion include: working with adults who struggle to set healthy boundaries, minorities struggling with work place challenges, those who are challenged by symptoms of ADHD executive functioning challenges, those challenged with pregnancynew parenthood, those struggling to manage a healthy lifestyle (the gut brain connection). My experience and training include working with adults with a multitude of diagnoses and concerns including generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, emotional dysregulation, depression, comorbid disorders, physical health conditions, social anxietysocial skills deficits, work place conflictschallenges, Domestic violence, PTSD, trauma, gender based issues, culture based issues.
My approach to our work together is eclectic and may include Cognitive behavioral therapies, EMDR, Trauma focused CBT, Solution focused therapy, polyvagal (brain gut connection), mindfulness, multicultural centered. While assessing what may be best practices for your particular concern, I also utilize my various trainings, experience and instinct to identify tools that may support our work together.
I believe in working holistically with you as we map out your needs in areas of mind, body, and spirit. I am not religiously oriented in practice, but respect my clients belief systems, and may incorporate this into our work together if you choose. I am culturally oriented in practice and have a high regard and respect for my clients ethnic and cultural background. My passion is to honor this in our work together.
I look forward to speaking with you and would be honored to walk along side you on your journey towards wellness.
