My Approach to Helping
A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity; a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits. ~ Carl Rogers
We found there are basic keys to therapy success, and they start during the initial intake or assessment and continue throughout therapy. The client and therapist need to have a shared (1) understanding of the problem and (2) approach to resolving the challenges. Starting on the same page is key to moving forward on a successful path.
Clients complete an intake questionnaire and treatment planning form prior to the first session. This allows us to focus on clarifying concerns, hopes for services, and solidifying an initial plan of care. The session focus is on gaining a clear understanding of what concerns or problems bring you in, and your hopes and goals for services.
