My Approach to Helping
Hello. My name is Cynthia Thomas, LMFT. I have spent my career helping children and adults who have experienced the pain of trauma including abuse, families who have had child welfare involvement, challenges related to adoptionfostering youth, and parenting through the trails that our kids experience. I have seen that pain manifest as depression, PTSD, anxiety, anger, and relationship challenges. Through this work, I have learned that resiliency is not something that we are all born with, but is something that can be learned and practiced.
I start from a place of the strength. I have found that no matter what life has thrown our way, there is always SOMETHING, no matter how big or small, that has helped us get this far in our life journey. I use a variety of different interventions including learning how to hack your nervous system, examining and challenging how we think, and learning to just give ourselves some space to breathe by using mindfulness techniques.
I am humbled everyday by the resiliency of those that allow me to travel the difficult parts of their journey with them. I am even more humbled by those who, with renewed strength and resiliency, are ready to continue their journey without me. Thank you for considering me to be a part of your healing process.
