My Approach to Helping
I have been in Private Practice in Sarasota since 2007. I focus on working with individuals and couples who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, family relationship issues, or life transitions. I am exceptionally passionate about working with individuals who struggle with self esteem, body image issues, and eating disorders. I have worked with a variety of eating disorders and have extensive knowledge of the disorder and recovery process.
I have specific training in working with children and adolescents with behavior concerns, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues (to various life changes i.e. divorce, remarriage, relocation, grief and loss, etc). I have extensive experience (over 10 years) working with children and families addressing a wide variety of issues. I have experience working with unique life adjustments for children (death of a parent, extended separations, severe illness within the family, etc) I use each child's individual personality to drive the treatment and utilize many therapeutic approaches based on each individual child and their family.
My approach to counseling typically uses cognitive behavioral and interpersonal psychodynamic methods to create change and to increase awareness. However, I frequently utilize an integration of several treatment modalities depending on each person's needs. I believe that change in therapy comes from the client's better understanding of the self, support network, spirituality, and community connections. I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental and safe environment for such growth and change.
To get the most out of therapy, I believe it is very important to have a good match between the therapist and client. I offer a 15 minute phone consultation to learn more about your specific situation. If you would like to call for a consultation or to schedule an appointment, I encourage you to call my office at 941-330-5348 or you may visit my website for more information.
