My Approach to Helping

Relationships are important, and I believe when we feel more connected to ourselves and others, we lead happier and more fulfilling lives. It is NORMAL to have some conflict in relationships and times of feeling down, worried or out of sorts. If those times feel they are lasting longer than manageable, therapy can be a helpful way to process and sort through tough emotions and challenging times or when it has become too hard to cope in isolation.

I work together with individuals, couples and families by providing a safe and non-judging space to generate new ideas, set goals for change and find solutions to help lighten the load and find a more peaceful way forward. I am an empathic listener, accepting of wherever you are at in your journey, and open to exploring your losses, challenges and dreams with you. I approach therapy with a creative and active style sprinkled with a good sense of humor, as laughter is some of the best medicine.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I believe we do not just exist from the neck up, and that what goes on in our bodies can be just as useful a tool as what is happening in our minds. If you are interested in the mind-body connection, we can incorporate relaxation skills and address issues from a mindfulness-based stress reduction perspective.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Trusting your instincts and your gut when meeting with your therapist whether the first time or for the duration of therapist is key in having a successful experience. Studies have shown that 80% of the positive outcomes of therapy are due to the therapist client relationship and trusting connections. Other key aspects that support positive change include therapist warmth, empathy, unconditional positive regard and non-judgemental stance. For this reason, I offer a free 30-min consultation to determine if I am a good fit for your needs.
