I am an EMDR trained trauma therapist and Certified Transgender Care Therapist. My goal is to help you learn to let go of the pain of the past, live more fully in the present and develop hope for the future. I am passionate about the work I do and feel that it is a calling and not a job. I have been doing this work for more than ten years and always find that I am learning and growing and hope to foster that same experience for those I work with. I am a person-centered, strengths-based approach and see myself as an expert collaborator with you in the driver's seat.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

Finding the right therapist for you is the single most important ingredient to any successful therapy. That being said, here is some information about me that might help you know if I'm the right therapist for you. I am a psychology nerd at heart and am always interested in learning new things to be a better therapist and better collaborator. I am open to feedback as I believe that you need to be comfortable to be honest with me just as I plan on being honest with you. I am an animal lover in general and a dog lover in particular. I don't have a therapy dog at this time but hope to integrate one in the future.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

There is so much stigma around mental 'disorders' but you are more than your disorder. A favorite quote that I share with people is 'It's not your fault, but it is your problem.' Since my focus is on working with trauma and trans individuals this could not be truer. If you experienced negative/traumatic things or prejudice and discrimination in your life the 'disorders' that typically bring you into treatment are often sane reactions to insane events or circumstances.
