I use a client-centered approach with every person I work with. Treating others with dignity and respect is of utmost importance to me. In therapy, my goal is to help you figure out what change you want to make in your life, and help you explore ways to meet those goals. I apply a wide variety of techniques, depending on the unique needs of each person. I have particular expertise in trauma, depression, anxiety, family issues, parenting, and substance use, but also have experiences in many other areas.

Therapy sessions can be flexible to meet your needs. For some individuals, that involves talking and processing through issues. For others, it can mean learning new coping skills, working on parenting skills, etc. For trauma work, it can involve gradual exposure to traumatic experiences through Narrative work. Together, we can determine what you need and tailor our sessions to best serve you.

More Info About My Practice

If your child has suffered from one or more traumatic events, I may be able to help! I have been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy since 2008, and has also conducted training and supervised staff who have provided this treatment. Trauma can have profound negative effects on children. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based treatment designed to teach children coping skills and help them address their trauma through a trauma narrative. Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you would like more information about this specialty treatment model.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

There is strong evidence to suggest that therapy only works if the individual feels like they have a strong, trusting relationship with their therapist. Because of this, I invite all of my clients to 'try me out,' and to not hesitate to change therapists if I am not a good fit for them. No therapist is a good fit for every person, and you have every right to shop for the right therapist to suit your needs.
