My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of C & K Counseling Services in the state of California and am dedicated to helping veterans and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), and substance use. I have provided mental health services since 2014 with training and experience in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), as well as being trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).
I have a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Middle Tennessee State University. I served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant and have seen first-hand the difficulties that come with trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use. I deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi freedom in 2015 and again in 2017. Serving in the military sparked my interest to work in the mental health field and motivated me to become a mental health therapist. I have been employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs as well as a community-based mental health agency providing therapy to Veterans and adults.
I provide online therapy appointments where you can participate in therapy from the comfort of your own home. I have an easy-to-access online appointment scheduling system where you can schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments. In addition, I can be reached either by phone or secure message with a quick turnaround for replies.
My counseling style is guided by four core principles – empathy, acceptance, compassion, and kindness. I provide a client-centered, solution-focused, holistic approach where I tailor your goals and objectives in therapy to meet your specific needs. But also – I’m here to listen.
I am passionate about helping clients accomplish their goals and develop coping skills to better manage life’s difficulties. I am passionate about being altruistic in both my professional and well personal life and am driven to be of service to others. I enjoy wakeboarding, snowboarding, going to church, watching basketball as well as football, and spending time with loved ones.
I want to help you accomplish your goals in life including developing copings skills, decreasing mental health symptoms, improving relationships, processing trauma, and/or reducing/stopping substance use. You deserve to find happiness. You deserve to feel joy. You deserve to be free. You are not alone. I look forward to working with you!
