My Approach to Helping
Often, our life's most challenging moments are when an accumulation of stressful events build and simultaneously affect our body and mind. Our feelings are a result of the way our mind responds to experiences. In designing a life that works for ourselves, we have to take time for self-care and allow the right things to come our way. A strong relationship with a therapist can open doors to new awareness about our lives, as well as our relationship with ourselves and others! Because we can't "do life" alone, I have spent the last few years building alliances with solid professionals who can help you put your health, life, and mental wellness back on track. We want to see you going in the right direction, choosing healthy habits and decisions over maladaptive patterns.
More Info About My Practice
I am an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist under clinical supervision with Marina Edelman, LMFT of Westlake Village, CA. I completed the Clinical Psychology MA at Antioch University in 2017. I was inspired to work in this field after a calling to support family and friends with addiction issues. I have worked in a variety of recovery environments including outpatient, detox, high school counseling, and provided full-time concierge support to executives and families including interventions and detoxes. I offer private face-to-face meetings at our office. If it is not convenient, or if you would prefer to have therapy in your home or office, I provide Skype/Facetime meetings.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
Life's problems present themselves in addictions, eating disorders, insomnia, lack of motivation, worry. We become tempted to hide our painful emotions. Whether we are carrying buried elements of the past or a recent crisis occurred, nothing gets done and we can't move forward. Anxiety, depression, and stress disorders may appear at any point in our lives. In the long run, this causes havoc....what may be considered or presented as a "disorder" is really just our body, mind and soul saying that it is time for an overhaul. You may be experiencing a wide range of physical or emotional symptoms that affect your quality of life.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
It is OK for you to commit to a full or part-time schedule with me. It might be necessary for you to come weekly, or take a break and give yourself personal time to let things unfold before addressing them on a deeper level. As long as we are moving forward! By making the initial call and reaching out to me, you are one step closer to feeling a little better!
