People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons, but everyone is feeling emotional pain. If you are feeling this way, know you are not alone. Please know this pain is not permanent; there is help. It is not unusual to feel nervous coming to therapy the first time. There is a belief the therapist will judge them, which creates fear and uncertainty. Please know you will not be judged, but listened to with understanding and empathy.
The first appointment is a free consultation, which can be in person (which is best) or on the phone. In this appointment, we see if we would like to work together to create a positive change in your future.
Let me be the first to congratulate you on this first, brave step. Reaching out for help is never easy. Sometimes being strong means asking for assistance. Please know that you are strong. We all want someone in out corner. Let me be in your corner.

More Info About My Practice

What should I expect on my first appointment with you?

The relationship is highly important in therapy. A great deal of healing can be accomplished through the trusting and safe therapeutic relationship, so it is very important you feel comfortable with me. A plan for therapy will be worked out in this fist therapy session. This first session is also a time for you to decide if we are a good fit and if you feel comfortable with me as a therapist. There will be a great deal of talking, nothing scary. Please remember, the first session is a consultation, and I do not charge for it.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy can help with many issues including issues of perfectionism, procrastination, intimacy, depression, anxiety, and transitions in life, along with other struggles we all face from time to time. Basically if you are not happy where you are in your life, therapy can help you move to where you want to be.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I get to meet and talk to people I never would have met otherwise. Through my role as a therapist, I have been lucky enough to meet a wide assortment of people, both young and old, rich and poor, healthy and sick. I have met people who want to talk for hours and those who were less than thrilled with the therapy process. I never would have met these people without this amazing and interesting calling. I never would have heard their stories. I never would have learned more about myself and this world through our shared experiences. I have learned so much through the act of listening to another person. I have learned all people truly want is someone to listen to them. We spend so much time thinking of the next thing we are going to say and not listening to the person in front of us. Mainly I have learned that people just want empathy and compassion. And I have learned the people who appear the most intimidating on the outside are the ones hurting the most on the inside. What I love about being a psychotherapist is I get to meet truly amazing people, and I love every minute of it.
